The girl is a form three at Kisiara Secondary School and the police believe he might have attempted an abortion before succumbing.

The incident was confirmed by area Chief Titus Tonui, the administrator adding that the girl might have collaborated with her boyfriend in the botched abortion.

However, the chief told the Citizen Digital on Saturday that the boyfriend who is believed to live nearby fled after the incident.

The incident comes only three months after authorities in the county launched a compulsory check for pregnancy for all girls joining the secondary school to tame such happenings.

Led by County Commissioner George Natembeya, the administration in November last year also stressed on the need for girls to be checked for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) which is rampant in the area.

Natembeya's team blamed FGM for early pregnancies and marriages leading to a low transition from primary to secondary school.

However, by January no screening had been done as was revealed by the anti-FGM board put in place to help tame the traditional vice.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Kapkatet Hospital Mortuary pending investigations.
