Details about rush hour efforts to raise Sh15 million fine for Don Bosco Gichana can now be revealed, almost a month after his dramatic release from Arusha prison.
Mr. Bosco, who had pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud charges, was sentenced to five years on top of Tsh300 million fine.
And with the family and friends having raised Sh11 million, organisers approached ODM leader Raila Odinga who topped it up with Sh3 million, an aide has revealed.
"He will attend the homecoming ceremony. In fact, he's the one who had topped Sh3 million of Sh3.7 million the family was looking for," said the source.
In an interview, Mr. Gichana conceded that both Raila, DP William Ruto, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and Governor James Ongwae helped him collect the fine.
"I was helped by Ruto, Raila, Ongwae and Sudi. They stood with me along with other Kenyans of goodwill," he said.
On October 26th, Bosco is already mobilising over 1 million voters from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties to attend his homecoming.
