Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday steered away from the 2022 succession politics during the installation of the Machakos Catholic Diocese Bishop Reverend Norman King'oo Wambua.
Ruto tactically ignored a statement earlier made by Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka urging him to work with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as he seeks to ascend to power.
Munyaka said Kalonzo and Ruto should work together for the sake of developing this nation ahead of 2022 polls.
"Concerning 2022 politics, I ask you not to look any further but come here and work with Kalonzo Musyoka because I know you can build the government together, " Munyaka said.
They spoke at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.
Munyaka, a third-term MP was elected on a Jubilee party ticket.
In his message, Ruto urged leaders to shun tribal politics ahead of 2022 polls.
Ruto said leaders should join hands in preaching peace, love, and unity so as to make national cohesion and integration a reality.
"We have no place for tribal politics. We are all brothers, let us build the bridges of friendship for our country to prosper," Ruto said.
On his part, Kalonzo maintained that he is still supportive of the union between Uhuru and Raila.
The meeting was attended by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui) among others.
