Now a key leader advocating for the plight of farmers, Joshua Kutuny is not a stranger in the Kenyan fierce politics at least for the past decade.
In a televised interview on Citizen TV, Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen revealed that Kutuny was first identified by DP Ruto in Cherangany where he was a charcoal vendor.
"You should respect DP William Ruto. He picked you from bushes where you were selling charcoal and made you MP," said Murkomen, in remarks that did not go well with Kutuny.
He swiftly responded: "I also picked you from streets and made you senator. My wife bought you the first car. We used to send you money for upkeep."
Born in 1978, Kutuny graduated with Political Science Degree from Moi university in 2006 before being elected to parliament a year later on ODM.
Five years later, he joined William Ruto led faction of URP but lost to Boston Marathon winner Wesley Korir in the cosmopolitan constituency.
Owing to his immense knowledge on politics, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him as his political advisor in 2013, a post he held until last year.
At State House, Kutuny is credited for crafting Jubilee party campaigns before making a comeback last year on Jubilee ticket.
Despite his deteriorating relationship with DP Ruto, Kutuny once predicted that the DP could occupy State House in 2022.
"He just needs to adjust on few things. Otherwise I am seeing him in State House. It's possible. Let's support the handshake for unity."
