Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has been given 7 days to improve the state of Eronge market in Kitutu Chache North constituency or get it rough from the traders.
On Wednesday the traders said they voted for Ongwae but he has done nothing to appreciate their votes.
"Our market is in a bad state and upgrade is needed Ongwae should move with speed and improve the state of the market before we take to the streets," said a trader Jane Machoni.
Mrs Machoni who hawks tomatoes said customers have kept off the muddy market due to fear of a disease outbreak.
Another trader Emily Bitengo said Ongwae must work as he promised during the 2017 polls.
"We are Ongwae's employers and he should, therefore, work around the clock to ensure we are running our businesses in a conducive environment. There is poor drainage at the market, we also need terraces to be constructed at the market for the free flow of water," she noted.
The traders' chairman Robin Okindo claimed that the area MCA Methuselah Ogero has given a deaf ear to the traders' calls to have the market upgraded.
