Opposition chief Raila Odinga, it has emerged, called other NASA co-principals and warned them not to set foot at Uhuru Park from where he was sworn in as the people's president on January 30th.
According to Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula were it not for Raila's call, he, alongside ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka would have attended Raila's inauguration as the people's president.
Wetangula speaking on Tuesday claimed that Raila called them and notified that the event was illegal and they may be arrested.
"Moments before the swearing in, he called and told us that we keep away from the event," Wetangula who spoke to Citizen TV in an interview said.
"He said the event was illegal and that we should not go to Uhuru Park because we would be arrested. The four of us were to meet at a strategic point but we were surprised to see him at Uhuru Park."
Initially, Wetangula had claimed that they had been locked in a house by police officers.
The swearing-in brought tension within NASA as Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho warned the coalition's co-principals who failed to attend the event that they would be punished politically.
