Eldoret-based businessman and tycoon Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich popularly known as Buzeki is scheduled to meet with farmers and stakeholders on Saturday.
The meeting comes on the backdrop of government revelations that the farmers will not receive subsidized fertilizers this year as it has been the norm.
Through his official Facebook page, Buzeki who is also the chairman of the Chemilil Sugar Factory Board notified the public about his planned meeting which will take place at Kenmosa grounds in Eldoret town.
“I wish to notify all the farmers, stakeholders and cooperatives that I will be holding a consultative meeting on Saturday 9th, to deliberate on the impending fertiliser crisis following government's announcement that it won't issue fertiliser subsidies this year. This meeting will be purely for the purposes of mitigating and finding homegrown solutions and for that reason, no politics will be allowed or given stage.VENUE: KENMOSA GROUNDS.TIME: 10 AM ONWARDS,” reads Buzeki's post.
Farmers mostly from the North Rift region have been appealing to the national government to come to their rescue over poor maize prices and now the expensive fertilizers considering that crop farming is their main source of income.
Buzeki is highly tipped to succeed governor Jackson Mandago in 2022. He lost to the county boss twice in 2017 polls, first during the Jubilee and later in the general election on August 8.
