Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has praised Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji’s purge on corruption.
Maalim says that Haji has given Kenyans hope that corruption and impunity can be successfully fought.
Speaking on KTN news on Monday, the former lawmaker asked the DPP not to fear anyone and go for those perceived to be untouchables in the fight against graft.
He said that Kenyans are happy with the progress Mr Haji has made, adding that the government should facilitate his office more as he takes graft war to another levels.
“DPP Haji is has restored hope of Kenyans because he has shown that that graft can be elliminated," he said.
Maalim said that corruption is a serious economic dragon that has to be confronted from all sides.
He also lauded politicians across the the divide for keeping politics out in the ongoing fight against corruption.
“We must all stand united against the corruption dragon for the economic success of the country,” he said.
The DPP has intensified crackdown on corruption with arrest of several senior government officials in the recent months
On Monday, National Lands Commission chairman Mohamed Swazuri and sixteen other senior government officials were arraigned in court and charged with graft.
Swazuri and others who pleaded not guilty to graft charges were released on Sh6 Million bond and alternative cash bail of 3.5 Million.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to deal with graft and impunity as he seeks to leave a good legacy at the end of his term in 2022.
