A family from Igena Itambe area in Nyamira County has shocked locals after they threatened to bury their daughter who committed suicide over a week ago in her husband’s bedroom.
According to the family, they will only stop the idea if the son-in-law pays them 15 head of cattle as compensation, claiming that the deceased committed suicide due to the man's infidelity.
Led by the family’s spokesperson Joseph Mairura, they said their daughter was always complaining of her husband’s infidelity until the time she committed suicide.
“We are not issuing empty threats but the man must pay 15 more cows on top of what he paid as dowry for causing the death of our daughter or else we will ensure that his bedroom is turned to be a graveyard of our daughter," said Mairura
Confirming their incident, area Chief Erastus Agwata said that he has been informed of their demands and he is in talks with the family of the man to see if they will be able to fulfill their demands.
“Am aware that the lady left a note saying his husband caused the death but I believe the issue will be solved by area elders," said Agwata.
