Speaking in Mombasa on Tuesday, the county boss also took issue with those criticising opposition leader Raila Odinga for his complete involvement in the same.

Raila led the launch of Huduma Namba registration in Mombasa earlier in the month and has erected a billboard encouraging Kenyans to follow suit, which Joho says has offended the critics.

He stressed on the need for more billboards to ensure that all Kenyans get registered in the new digital system.

"I have seen people focusing on Mr Odinga [and asking] why he has put a billboard showing that he is in support of this exercise. I am saying we need more of those billboards. We are not supposed to be objecting to everything,” he was quoted by the Nation.

He insisted that the exercise is necessary, and will be of great importance to both the government and the citizens.

“You cannot hold a government to account if it does not know who you are. Those peddling lies about this project are busybodies and we should not allow them to lie to us,” he added.
