Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua has bashed the Jubilee Party faction dubbed 'Kieleweke' which appears opposed to Deputy President (DP) William Ruto, and his 2022 presidential ambitions.
Speaking at Railways Grounds in Karatina on Sunday, the parliamentarian accused the team led by nominated MP Maina Kamanda of dividing the nation.
He claimed that the group is frustrating the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) founded by President Uhuru Kenyatta, and opposition chief Raila Odinga, by secluding the DP.
He added that the team's attempts to weaken Ruto in Mt Kenya region, where most of them come from, have failed, claiming that voters on the ground are fully in support of the DP.
“The ‘rebels’ and the ‘outsiders’ should stop insulting the DP in churches, Mt Kenya voters know their commitment to Dr Ruto and they do not need to be lectured," he was quoted by Nation.
He also bashed Raila, accusing him of using the truce in an attempt to break the Uhuru-Ruto union, noting that his entrance has caused confusion in the once invincible party.
However, the lawmaker added that all Jubilee MPs are fully in support of Uhuru's ideologies and will give him the support he needs.
“We will continue supporting the President and the 'handshake' as well as his interests in Parliament,” he added.
