On July 17, 2017, Kenyans were disappointed after waiting for hours only for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to stage no-show during the presidential running mates' debate.
The Ukambani political kingpin, who was the then NASA's deputy presidential candidate, had earlier on hinted that he would appear for the debate, a promise he never fulfilled.
Kalonzo's failure to turn up for the debate elicited mixed reactions from various political factions including Kenyans on social media.
Surprisingly, Deputy President William Ruto also failed to attend the debate leading to lots of speculations.
The two front-runners in the presidential race were expected to share their thoughts in different aspects but staged no-show.
The then Dr. Japheth Kavinga's running mate, Eliud Muthiora Kariara, was the only presidential running mate who appeared for the debate.
Kavinga touched the hearts of many Kenyans when he promised to change the country if given a chance to become the Deputy President.
He urged Kenyans to elect leaders based on their leadership qualities and not tribes.
Many political analysts later "roasted" Kalonzo and Ruto for failing to appear for the debate, yet they expected to lead the country.
Both Kalonzo and Ruto have expressed their presidential interests in 2022 polls.
