Governor Ali Korane has launched a program dubbed 'Mashinani Program' in what he said were efforts to hasten developments in the rural and the semi-urban regions.
Speaking in Bura Town on Saturday during his first ever rally in the region, Korane said his government was committed to ensuring residents get services closer to them even as one of the key benefits of devolution.
"This Mashinani Program will have necessary structures at the lowest ward level and women should be given priority to serve as chairpersons in those areas. It is a program meant for spur economic developments to our people, most of who are women and youth because they form the bulk of our population, " said governor Korane. He further revealed that the launch had delayed due to lack of proper policy and legal framework.
In the event, tens of hundreds of local residents thronged the Bura grounds to witness the launch amid cheers. The program is envisaged to benefit at least 900 youths and women.
