So shocking was her exit that county employees are yet to comprehend, but for Jackline Momanyi 'a change of working environment is important in career progress'.
Earlier, his predecessor Jones Omwenga described her as a hard working servant, with 'focus and vision' to enable the county progress.
And a number of local leaders have paid tribute to Mrs Momanyi, who served in the finance department as Chief Officer before her elevation to full minister in December 2017.
"It's shocking that she has moved out. In her tenure, despite the hiccups, there was better management of funds and little wastage," said Carol Kwamboka, a youth leader.
On his part, ODM Chairman Richard Kaka, said Ms Momanyi's exit would render the county government dysfunctional.
"The worst thing to happen is losing a finance minister at the time you're under pressure to perform. He exit will sabotage operations within the county. Service delivery will be derailed."
In an exclusive phone call, Mrs Momanyi said her timing was 'crucial', adding that she is ready to serve the country in another capacity.
She disputed claims that Governor John Nyagarama had sacked her, accusing her colleagues of smear campaign.
"My exit was voluntary. There is a time when you just feel things can't be better. You change the environment for the better. I resigned and the governor approved my move."
Meanwhile, her Tourism and Trade counterpart Peter Muga will take over albeit in an acting capacity as the governor retreats to get a substantive occupant.
She becomes the first sitting minister since the inception of devolution to resign from her capacity voluntarily from county government of Nyamira.
