Philanthropist Dhanji Liladhar Parmar is dead. Pamar was the official tailor of Kenya's founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
His death was revealed by his daughter Simran Parmar who expressed the family's shock.
“He was full of life yesterday (Sunday). We had dinner together and he was fine. This morning (Monday), he woke up early as usual but died a few minutes later. It is very painful for the family,” said Simran.
She described her father as a loving man, who always checked on his family and remained active.
According to his nephew Rakesh Prenji, Mr Parmar, 85, collapsed in their home next to the Nakuru State Lodge and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“He woke up at around 7am and collapsed while having a shower. Doctors told us that he suffered a heart attack,” said Prenji.
Nakuru governor Lee Kinanjui is among leaders who have condoned with family.
