Did you know of Irene Koki Mutungi? She is Kenya’s first female pilot to be endorsed as a captain of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and also in the African Continent. She is a daughter of a retired pilot who currently works in an aviation consultant firm. She had the passion and dream to fly from a young age, worked hard and finally achieved it. She leads the top female pilots in Africa.

She will fly President Uhuru Kenyatta to New York on KQ’s inaugural flight to the US. On 28th October 2018, Uhuru will depart in business class from the JKIA at 11.25 pm and will land at the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York City at 6.25 am the following day. The business class customers will pay Sh 257,634 both ways where the tickets will be subject to government approval as announced by KQ CEO Sebastian Mikosz in January. Economy class flyers will pay Sh 89,000 both ways (to and from New York).

The Kenya Airways planes will carry 234 passengers: 30 at the premium world class and 204 in the economy class section. They will have 4 pilots, 12 flight attendants and 85 tonnes of fuel loaded one way.
