A Sombre mood engulfed in Cheborge high school, Kericho county on Tuesday during the requiem mass held for the late Willy Sang and his wife, who was murdered on July 21, 2018, at their home.
Hundreds of mourners drawn from Kericho and Bomet Counties attended the requiem mass that was punctuated with sobbing and contemplation.
The leaders who graced the occasion led by Kericho deputy Governor Susan Kikwai described the couple as a cheerful and instrumental pillar of the community, who, they said, did not deserve such a gruesome elimination.
They further called upon the investigative organs of the government to expedite the ongoing investigation process involving the couple's murder to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and dealt with decisively.
Students at the school that the late Willy Sang taught arts and design, sang an emotional dirge for him, besides regretting that the killers would have spared him to continue shaping them intellectually.
"Killing our loving teacher without genuine reasons has not only affected us educationally but also emotionally," said Aron Kiplagat, a student.
The couple left behind 5 children.
They were laid to rest at their Leldet farm in Kipkellion west Constituency, Kericho County.
