Dating and relationships are among the few things that make one miss campus life. At Kenyatta University, the freedom given to students makes one's stay at the university memorable. You'll always miss this after you graduate.

Regardless of the freedom granted to students, one must obey the rules that govern interaction between comrades. One of the most common hostel rules is the ten-to-ten rule, where you are allowed to visit the hostels of the opposite sex as from 10am and leave before 10pm.

Most students in relationships say the rule is unfair because one is forced to leave before spending enough time with their partner.

However, male students have come up with a few tricks they use to beat the ten-to-ten rule.

Here are some of the tricks they use:

1. Sneaking in before 10am

Housekeepers are never keen to see who is coming in or leaving the hostels before 10am. This is because they assume no one will dare visit the hostels before the accepted time. This gives students a chance to sneak into their lovers' rooms without following the due process which requires them to leave their IDs at the housekeeper's desk.

2. Using wrong IDs

This is common at night, especially just before 10pm, where students overcrowd at the checkpoint and use school IDs belonging to other students. By using this trick, the students can spend the night in their lover's room without being identified.

3. Use of fake room numbers

In this case, a student can indicate they're visiting, for example, room 202 of Nyayo 1 hostel yet they're going to room 100. This makes it hard for housekeepers to trace the students in a hostel with over 400 rooms. This trick works hand in hand with the use of false IDs. This is why it is advisable for students to report to the university security if his or her school ID goes missing, as you risk being summoned by the security committee for mistakes you are not aware of.
