With DP Ruto undoubtedly the preferred candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta within the Jubilee party, the hustler as he always refers himself to is facing resistance from some legislators in his backyard, some of who have openly declared support for Senator Moi.

Here are the two major reasons that might lead to Senator Moi outsmarting the DP if they both go for the top seat in 2022;

Mzee Moi's influence

Gideon Moi who happens to be the son of the former President Daniel Arap Moi may outsmart DP Ruto if this narrative of 'history repeats itself' is anything to go by. President Kenyatta who is also the son of the founding father Jomo Kenyatta has already made the history repeats itself.

Kenyatta and Moi's family are also known to be long-term allies and it will not be a surprise when President Kenyatta offers a hand of support to Senator Moi. Moreover, retired President Moi had done everything to ensure Uhuru Kenyatta would succeed him in 2002 and that 'debt' might still be existing thus DP Ruto should expect anything from Kenyatta's support.

Raila's influence

Raila Odinga who has been nicknamed 'Baba' has a strong commanding voice as far as Kenyan politics are concerned.

With his presidential bid not known, Raila might opt to support Senator Moi rather than DP Ruto whom they do not see eye to eye in the current politics. If this happens, it will cause further nightmares in Ruto's camp since 'Baba' has almost fanatical support in several key regions in the country.

However, DP Ruto will have a great potential to be the next Head of State should Moi who is yet to declare his next move opt not to go for the State House job.
