President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a congratulatory message to Senegal President H.E. Macky Sall upon his re-election. The commander in chief of the armed forces said that the re-election of Sall is a clear indicator that the citizens have confidence in his leadership.
Uhuru, who is serving his second and final term in office, called upon the elect-President to serve his people with diligence and determination after the opponents accused him of rigging.
He also said that the peaceful process earned the elected leader more trust from the people. He further urged him to ensure there is a robust economy.
“I convey my hearty congratulations to H.E. Macky Sall following his re-election for a 2nd term in office as the President of the Republic of Senegal. The peaceful election is a highlight of a robust democratic foundation which has earned Senegal recognition as a model of stability,” he said through his official Tweeter handle.
Senegal Prime Minister Mouhammed Boun Abdallah Dionne, announced Sall as the winner of the contest, He noted that the results compiled by the presidential coalition showed that he had won the seat with a landslide
The election comes after Nigeria’s President Mahummud Buhari also retain his seat amid rigging claims by the opposition side.
