The United States, through its Kenyan embassy in Nairobi, has cautioned it's citizens of possible targeted attacks by the extremist groups believed to be in the country.
In the statement released on Monday, Nairobi, Naivasha, Nanyuki and town in the coastal region were flagged as possible spots where the criminals would target Western nationals.
The embassy appealed to citizens to be extremely vigilant when in the four areas as terror groups were feared to be keen on attacking public spaces.
"Credible information indicates Westerners may be targeted by extremists in Nairobi, Naivasha, Nanyuki, and coastal areas of Kenya. The U.S. Embassy reminds the public of the continued need for heightened vigilance throughout Kenya, especially in public spaces such as shopping malls, hotels, and places of worship," read part of the alert.
They further indicated steps to be taken by their citizens to ensure maximum security.
