Speaking to journalists in Kisii on Thursday, during their monthly meetings, the elders, led by their chairperson Araka Matundura said, those living in rented houses should live in harmony and by knowing one another.

They also asked the leaders of 'Nyumba Kumi' to give information to the authorities when a stranger comes to live with them.

"We are sorry for what happened in Nairobi. The rescue team showed that Kenya has unity from the government officials to the common mwananchi. We are praying and requesting that if any misfortune occurs, let's follow suit and be united in helping the situation like yesterday," Matundura said.

"The leaders of 'Nyumba kumi' should give reports of what happens in their areas of leadership because those who did the attack must have been living in some places," he added.

The council's secretary Samwel Angwenyi also commended the civic education, pointing out that it will show improvement of security in Kenya.

"Our leaders, be it politicians or chiefs should organize regular meetings to teach Kenyans on how to live. Civic education is important in human life. Preach the gospel to the villagers and teach them this civic education," Angwenyi said.
