Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has come under heavy criticism following his failure to appear before a house joint committee.
Matiang'i was on Monday and Tuesday expected to appear before the Parliamentary committee probing contraband sugar imports but he snubbed the summons.
The move angered the MPs, with some calling for his resignation on grounds he was looking down upon the National Assembly.
Samburu Women Representative Maison Leshoomo said the CS should resign if he felt too important to work with other arms of government.
"This is not the first time the CS is snubbing parliamentary committees. He is looking down upon Parliament and MPs. If he cannot respect Parliament he should quit," remarked Leshoomo.
Matiang'i's no-show also attracted the ire of National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi who said the CS, having succeeded in undermining Judiciary, by ignoring court orders (in Miguna Miguna deportation case), was now targeting the August House by snubbing sessions.
"Parliament has been nice to this CS and he has started showing rogue behavior. A message needs to go out to Matiang'i that we expect him to account to the people of Kenya. Matangi is getting used to this," the Suba North MP said, as quoted by Standard.
The National Assembly's joint committee on Agriculture and Trade wanted the CS to expound more on his remarks that there was sugar laced with mercury and copper in the country, a statement Matiang'i made two weeks ago.
