Machakos county is one of the interesting places to visit in Ukambani region and in Kenya.
'Masaku' as is popularly known is the hub of Ukambani region which is about 40 to50 minutes drive from Nairobi.
According to Wikipedia, Machakos was established in 1887 and was the first British colony administrative centre. It is named after the famous Kamba chief known as Masaku.

1. Komarock shrine
It Is located near Nguluni area in Tala ward, Kangundo sub-county around 2.4 kilometres from Nairobi. The shrine has the best sculpture of Jesus held by his mother Mary.
2. Kyamwilu magical hill
It is located along Machakos-Mutituni road. It's where nature defies gravity and tourists both local and international visit the hill to watch the water flow upward instead of downwards.
3. Lukenya caves and hills
Located just near Lukenya, 6 minutes drive from Mombasa road. The caves were hiding place for Mau Mau fighters. The Lukenya hills are good for hiking, wildlife viewing on surrounding Athi plains and sightseeing.
4. Ol Donyo Sabuk National park
The national park has buffalos, leopards, bushbucks, baboons and over 50 bird species.
5. African heritage house
It's located next to AIC church in Kasina, Mlolongo. It has African Art and furnishings, a showpiece of African heritage and culture.
