Nandi Hills lawmaker Alfred Keter has bashed fellow Rift Valley politicians opposed to the ongoing purge on corruption and corrupt individuals.
This comes at a time when a section of area leaders have been topped to the ongoing exercise, terming it a plot to victimize the region and its leaders.
But the youthful lawmaker has poked holes into the claims, insisting that the pursuit is aimed at only the corrupt and not the Kalenjin community.
Keter claimed that the ones lamenting are most likely corrupt and are only using the narrative to protect themselves, urging them to leave the region out and face the consequences.
"If there is a son of the Kalenjin community who has looted public funds he did it for himself and not for the community. There is no community in this war which is under threat. People should deal with their own muck without dragging us,” the MP told the Sunday Standard.
The remarks came only hours after Elgeyo Marakwet Senator who doubles up as the Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen termed the corruption purge as an attempt to victimize the region.
"We need to tell one another the truth. The situation is getting out of hand and Uhuru seems to be taking advantage to target us in Rift Valley in the name of fighting corruption. It seems President Kenyatta has got another option and it is time he declares it so that we part ways," said the Senator.
His comments were echoed by Kapseret lawmaker Oscar Sudi during a burial ceremony in Bomet county.
The leaders have been crying foul since the revelation of the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandals which they say are being used to finish Deputy President William Ruto politically.
