Agriculture and Livestock Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri claims sugarcane farmers who had earlier delivered their produce to National Cereals and Produce Board(NCPB) have goodies coming their way.
Addressing press on Monday at Capitol Hill, Nairobi after a meeting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga he claims payments are underway.
According to Kiunjuri, farmers problems date back to the last 20 years during the leadership of Mwai Kibaki and now Jubilee government.
With consultation with President, Kiunjuiri says they agreed to include all regions leaders and more so all leaders concern in order to address farmers issues.
"I am happy to note that leaders have now realised that our farmers have been suffering for a long time. We are almost to the tail yet despite challenges faced by the task force," Kiunjuri said
"From Friday last week, we started paying the farmers and today as we speak farmers are being paid," he added
He believed that in the coming months following a series of meetings, farmers will enjoy their sweat.
Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) leader Raila Odinga revealed they agreed to hold a meeting in Kisumu on Monday next week with sugarcane leaders to sort farmers ails.
