The goods valued at over Sh400,000 were nabbed at a bus park in Eldoret town.

KRA head of customs in charge of the North Rift Valley region John Luseno said the goods seized included shoes and clothing.

They were unlawfully imported into the country as according to the KRA official, the owners did not pay the required tax.

"We seized goods which were clothing, shoes and mitumba. We currently don't know the owners but we have issued an F89 which is a deposit for goods that are deposited under customs for accountability purposes. It was issued to the bus driver since he remains an agent for owners," Luseno said during an interview on Citizen TV while in Eldoret town.

"So far five people, including the owners of the goods have come forward and paid Sh100,000 for tax," he added.

The KRA official asked owners of the impounded goods to come forward and pay for their tax so that the goods can be released.

He further noted that the goods owners might be required to issue an explanation on how and why they tried to evade paying tax as required by the law.
