Residents of Birongo location in Keumbu, Nyaribari Chache Constituency in Kisii County are happy after they received a new chief.
The locals claimed they have been going through hard times without a chief.
"Crime will be a thing in the past because the new chief will work for hand in hand with Nyumba Kumi officials and elders to tame crime. For several months, we have been without a chief, criminals have been taking advantage to rob members of the public," said Catherine Kemunto.
Robert Oroo expressed confidence that the new chief will help in fighting illegal businesses in the area.
"Men have become irresponsible due to alcohol consumption. I am hopeful that the new administrator will arrest and surrender illicit brew dealers to police for court processing," said Oroo.
Joakim Nyamweya, the new chief confirmed that he will work for the people of Birongo diligently.
"I thank the national government for promoting me from the assistant chief post to the chief position. Birongo residents should have no doubt in me because I will dedicate my time to serve them without discrimination," said the chief.
