Muranga Senator Irungu Kang'ata has been strongly criticised for calling for disciplinary actions to be taken against Jubilee MPs who opposed President Uhuru Kenyatta's memorandum on the Finance Law.
Kang'ata who is also referred to as 'the-reggae-Senator' for his love of the Jamaica music genre, irked many members of 'United States of Kiambu' Facebook group who termed him 'sycophantic'.
Many were of the opinion that the Jubilee MPs who opposed Uhuru's memorandum did a noble thing for standing with the common 'mwananchi'.
Uhuru's memorandum saw the initial 16% VAT imposed on fuel cut to 8% which many Kenyans still feel it is too much for them.
Uhuru had met the Jubilee MPs at State House, Nairobi on Tuesday last week where a common position was taken to support the memorandum.
However, a section of Jubilee legislators defied the party position by mobilizing themselves up to 215 MPs, short of 18 MPs which would have seen Uhuru's memorandum overturned.
Here are some screenshots of the reactions to Kang'ata's utterances many considered 'careless'.
