Ministry of Health has issued communication over Cholera that has affected various counties around the capital city of Kenya.

Through a press statement, the Ministry of Health revealed the major factors causing Cholera are shortage of clean water, poor sanitation and poor hygienic practices.

According to the Ministry of health, Kenyans should not worry since it has already put necessary measures in place. For them, with such measures in place, then Cholera is under control.

In the statement,  the Ministry revealed that National and County multidisciplinary teams have been dispatched to all affected areas. 

Teams are mandated to support in implementing response measures and support the technical capacity of counties

The ministry has also distributed Cholera supplies comprising of pharmaceutical, non-pharmaceutical and laboratory diagnostic support equipment.

This is meant to facilitate timely confirmation and effective case management in the suspected areas.

The statement also revealed that affected counties have already set up treatment centres meant to facilitate timely treatment of Cholera

Furthermore, the Ministry of health has other measures in the ground including distribution of Chlorine tablets for household water treatment to curb the life-threatening disease. 

“The Ministry wishes to assure the public that with the heightened surveillance and the ongoing intervention measures, the situation is under control.” reads part of the press statement
