Residents of Menengai East Ward in Nakuru East Sub-county have a reason to smile.
This after National Lands Commission vowed to look into the issues raised concerning grabbed public land in the area.
NLC chairman Mohammed Swazuri said the commission will scrutinize title deeds of the parcels of land in question to ascertain whether certain individuals hold their title deads.
While noting that Nakuru County has numerous cases of land grabbing, Swazuri was categorical that all grabbed land that has fake title deeds will be repossessed for public utility.
He said culprits of land grabbing will be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law.
Swazuri addressed the press in Nakuru on Tuesday.
Concerning the 23 acres piece of land adjacent to Mediheal Hospital that has seen even area MCA face charges in court, Swazuri said the commission is not sure whether individuals have acquired titles for the same.
Swazuri said the commission will move with speed to ascertain whether such has taken place.
He said any title deeds being held by individuals on the said controversial land will be revoked since it's meant for public utility.
Swazuri called on the County Government of Nakuru to ensure that once the land is repossessed, they move in with speed and fence it to bar other individuals who might have intentions of grabbing it.
“We will as commission get the details whether we have individuals who have acquired titles for the land, if we get so we shall revoke them because this is a public land. We also call on the county government that once we repossess the land they move in and fence to keep off other individuals who might want to grab,” said Swazuri.
