A woman's body has stayed at a mortuary in Machakos County for 15 years due to family wrangles.
The body belonging to Esther Nzakwa Kitivo has been lying in Machakos Funeral home for the mentioned period of time.
Relatives said the situation is due to the deceased's family wrangles following her demise in 2014, and it seems things are not getting well soon.
The succession dispute between the stepbrothers has seen the bill rising each day.
An official from the mortuary who identified himself to this writer only as Jeremiah said none of the family members had appeared to claim the body since it was taken there.
“The bill is still rising each day. It is in millions of shillings,” Jeremiah said.
“We have not seen her kin for some years now,” he added.
The deceased's step-son Maurice Ndambuki Kitivo went to court seeking to stop the half-brother Michael Musau Kitivo from burying her.
Ndambuki told the court that the piece of land where the woman was supposed to be laid doesn't belong to him.
He asked a Machakos court to stop the brother from burying her on the piece of land at Kitanga in Kalama, Machakos County.
The relatives' efforts to resolve the matter have gone futile.
