Kisumu County Woman Representative Rozaah Akinyi Buyu was among women leaders who toured Baringo County on Sunday under the Embrace Kenya Women Movement.
The leaders were in Baringo following an invitation by Baringo Woman Representative Gladwell Cheruiyot.
In her moving speech, Buyu asked Baringo residents to embrace peace.
She urged them to follow in the footsteps of Kisumu people who have since embraced peace, after long battles with security officers that arose from political contests.
“We know Baringo you have a lot of insecurity. And because of that, we have come to say we want peace. In Kisumu we have thrown away stones, we are now in peace,” said Buyu.
“Here in Baringo please throw away those guns so that we live in peace,” she added.
The Embrace Kenya is a women movement for a just, fair, secure and prosperous Kenya.
The movement supports the peace and cohesion that was brought by the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
Among those who attended the Baringo rally are: Homa Bay County Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, Murang’a’s Sabina Chege, Pamela Odhiambo of Migori County, Christine Ombaka of Siaya County, Esther Passaris of Nairobi County, Janet Ong'era of Kisii County and Beatrice Adagala of Vihiga County.
