Speaking when he met MPs from Kilifi on Saturday, Kingi said that the Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga-led party risks losing the support of Coast residents if the issue is not handled with caution.

Kingi, a close ally of his Mombasa counterpart Ali Hassan Joho, also said that the two play a crucial role in the party.

This is after Jumwa and Dori declared their support for Deputy President William Ruto in the race to State House come 2022.

“We are watching keenly the development of the summons that were issued and served upon Mheshimiwa and Mheshimiwa Aisha Jumwa because in the context of the handshake we term them as being counterproductive and so as a leadership; we are watching whatever will happen from now going forward, “ he said in part.

The change of tune for Jumwa and Dori over the succession of President Uhuru Kenyatta has elicited mixed reactions from different political factions.

The two leaders have, however, maintained that they will not turn back over the same. Jumwa insisted that she is ready to face the music for backing Ruto’s presidency.

“Junet, I am ready for you. Mr Man, you can proceed … I am ready for you,” she said in the past.
