A number of things will be happening at Kenyatta University this coming weekend. In fact, most of the activities will begin tonight (Friday). So what's special about this weekend?
The university held the Kenyatta University Student Association (KUSA) elections on Thursday, and just like in any other competition, there is a winner and a loser. Both the winners and losers will be engaging in different activities this weekend.
Here are some of the activities that will be taking place at the campus.
1. Parting
Victorious candidates will be celebrating their win. They will be hosting parties and inviting their supporters to enjoy their victory, as is always the norm after every election.
2. A lot of drinking
Many campus parties take place in nightclubs where students are treated to free drinks by the elected leaders. Comrades usually grab this opportunity with both hands, with some ending up drinking themselves silly.
3. Sexual activities
Many comrades usually take advantage of campus parties to engage in sex. In most cases, this is always blamed on the alcohol. Sexual activities are however not prohibited at the varsity so long as they are consensual and done in private.
4. Grieving
While the winning teams will be celebrating their victory, the other teams will be counting the losses they made during campaigns. Remember students invest a lot of money in campaigning, starting from paying key campaigners to printing posters etc.
