Here is the full statement on what happened to the vocal Wiper party Senator;
"This morning (Wednesday) Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr in the company of 14 other Senators attended a function in Kapsabet at the invitation of Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.
After the function in the course of having lunch at Eden Springs hotel in Kapsabet, Senator Kilonzo got choked and was rushed to Kapsabet district hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital where doctors carried out a successful minor procedure to remove what had choked him.
According to Dr Wilson Aruasa, the CEO of MTRH, the doctors managed to remove a small piece of chicken that had choked him. Dr Aruasa says the Senator is now in stable condition and he is currently resting and will be discharged in the morning to continue with his duties at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly where the Senate is sitting this week.
Dr Aruasa thanked the Senate for having faith and confidence with the public hospital where they brought the senator.
The Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has thanked doctors at Kapsabet district hospital for the first aid they conducted on the senator and MTRH for the good care they have taken on Senator Mutula.
"The fact that we brought him to MTRH shows that devolution is working and our hospitals and institutions need to be supported," added the speaker. Mutula is among senators who came to MTRH on Tuesday with the Senate health committee on a fact-finding mission as well as engaging the hospital management on several issues."
The Senator is expected to be discharged this morning (Thursday) so that he resumes his normal business at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly where the Senators are conducting their business.
