It was all joy for Al-hidaya Integrated Academy in Garissa Township after producing one of the top girls in the area in this year’s KCPE.
Sofia Ahmed Hassan, 15, scored 398 marks out of the possible 500 marks while the majority of the other candidates from the school scored over 300 marks giving the school a mean score of 358 points.
Sofia’s parents couldn’t hide their joy in their daughter’s sterling performance. Her father, Ahmed Hassan attributed the success to hard work and guidance by the teachers.
“You have made us all proud as Al-hidaya parents, with your sincere determination and serious effort; with the same spirit and zeal, you shall always make us proud. Congratulation on the success,” said an ecstatic Hassan.
Al-hidaya has since been ranked among the best performing private school in Garissa County and the North Eastern region by extension from the 2018 KCPE results.
Peter Kilinga, the headteacher said the impressive scores they posted was a result of dedication, commitment and cooperation from all stakeholders.
He noted that together with the 14 teachers in the school and support from the school’s management, they created a conducive environment for the pupils which bore good fruits.
“Congratulation on your achievement my dear pupils. You have given us the reason to cheer because you have made a standing alone, you have shown the way to be and we wish you wish you many bright years ahead. Congratulations on your achievement!” offered Kilinga.
He added that they will double their efforts to make sure they become the region's education giants and produce the top pupil in the country.
Al-hidaya’s management led by the school’s founder Bashir Dahir noted that it was not all rosy but they beat odds to emerge the best school in Garissa County.

"The road was certainly not an easy one, we had many hurdles but we proved to everyone that everything can be achieved through passion and perseverance,” he told Hivisasa during an interview at the school on Tuesday.
He added: “Al-hidaya is a centre of excellence and will remain to be the most admired institution in the area. Our performance has truly been outstanding and so good that we feel like telling you “touch wood”. We are so proud that we have achieved success our way. Congratulation to our candidates for the super performance. It is a big achievement and we wish you success in whatever you do in life.”
The school was founded and established in 2007 by Dahir. It was first registered for KCPE in 2014.
