Flamboyant businessman Don Bosco Gichana has been told to go slow on politics.
Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi said Mr Gichana, who was recently released from a Tanzanian prison, should not undermine local leaders due to his wide influence especially among the youth.
Maangi said Mr Gichana is not superior than other leaders from the Gusii community.
"I am pretty sure Mr Gichana knows what has been happening to the former Prime minister Raila Odinga when he contests for Presidency. Raila has a high number of followers but, he loses presidency. The same may happen to Mr. Gichana who thinks the high number of followers he has especially among the youth will vote for him when he vies for a political seat," he said.
The Deputy Governor argued that some of the youths who follows Mr. Gichana doesn't have either a national identity card or a voters card.
He said the Gusii community politics should be left to mature politicians who have been in politics for long.
"Upcoming leaders must seek blessings from old leaders who have been in politics for long. People like Jimmy Angwenyi can give a good advise to Mr. Gichana," he noted.
Don Bosco commands wide following from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties, a narrative that manifested itself through the homecoming ceremony.
