Barely one year after reaping big by dumping President Uhuru Kenyatta for ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo is on brink of being kicked out.
Oloo, who has been under constant attacks from a section of Kisumu Members of County Assembly (MCAs) for allegedly interfering with the Assembly’s oversight role and corruption, could be literally working on borrowed time with his looming ouster continuing to divide opinion in the lakeside city.
On Wednesday, all hell broke loose when one MCA tabled his impeachment motion as the ward representatives engaged in a fist fight that eventually saved the embattled speaker. But his trouble could be far from over with his critics keen to seal his fate.
This is not the first time Oloo has found himself on the receiving end. Last time, when the idea to impeach him was first mooted, Raila came to his rescue and the plan was shot down. But seemingly, not even the former Prime Minister can save the embattled former TNA Secretary General.
With the possibility of ouster still hanging on his head, will Oloo who shocked the country when he unexpectedly ditched the ruling party for ODM save his job? If not, what next? Only time will tell.
