On Sunday during a church service at St Christopher’s ACK church in Nakuru town, Mr Martin Wanjohi Kabiru was appointed the new vicar of Menengai Parish and Archdeacon of Nakuru Archdeaconry, Nation reports.
Prior to his new appointment, Mr Wanjohi was a long-serving provost at the ACK Cathedral Church of Good Shepherd at the Nakuru Diocese, a role he played well that led to his latest appointment.
Rev Captain Martin Muriuki of St Lukes ACK Umoja Parish in Nairobi diocese led the process of Installing the new vicar on Sunday.
Rev Muruiki challenged the church to treat the less fortunate in the community with the same enthusiasm they do with the rich. He was questioning why the clergy would send a representative in a funeral of the poor but would go in person in case it was the rich.
“Why would you send a lay leader person to represent you in a funeral of a poor person while you are so eager to preside over the burial service of the rich person in your church? When hustlers seek our assistance we should attend to them just the same way we attend to the wealthy," Rev Muriuki said.
He asked the church not to be directed by Ego during the process of service delivery.
