The incident which occurred along Kisii-Oyugis road, which was widely criticized on social media, was not however reported on any police station.

But the online 'prosecutors' have continued to question Mr. Matiang'i' over his delay in acting.

"Clearly there was a Chinese national pictured running after an African. The minister should have by now nabbed and deported him," said blogger Olivia Moraira alias Kabz Nyar Kisii.

Another user, Eugene added: "We are slowly losing our motherland to China. If this can happen in Kisii and nobody has been arrested, then something is wrong with the ministry."

Some even laughed off at Matiang'i' for relying of PR when doing his job and 'sleeping' when he is needed the most.

"He is fond of PR but has gone quiet when his kin are under attack. He has lost it," argued Mong'ina Bwombati.

The unidentified man is said to have differed with the casual worker before chasing after him with a machete.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka, whose territory the incident occurred, denied knowledge of it but asked the police to investigate.

"I have not heard about it but if it happened, an action should be taken," he said.

For the last month, Matiang'i has been flushing out Chinese nationals in the country without work permits.
