Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has heavily been criticized online following his proposal that MP's foreign travels be banned to save money that should instead be spent on development.
Kuria on Sunday said MPs have nothing to lose if they were banned from unnecessary travels overseas. He said such trips should only be allowed under "necessary circumstances".
"Dear Speaker Justin Bedan Njoka Muturi, Chair of Parliamentary Service Commission. Let us ban all foreign travel for the rest of the 12th Parliament- except essential travel requested by and paid for by line ministries or other organisations," Kuria said on his official Facebook page.
"Tell me one child in this country who will go hungry simply because we did not travel abroad."
But Kenyans, as usual, joined the conversation and told off the MP who they said has been travelling oversees all time since he joined Parliament only to realise in the last hours that the trips were unnecessary. Kuria was in the US recently.
Reactions;

James Kamau posted: "Is it now you have come to know you misuse public resources?? Why can't this hooligan [ensure] Senate will be abolished, governor seats abolished and women rep seats abolished, plus they reduce the MPs seats to 200 seats? Not forgetting to reduce their hefty salaries to 400,000 shillings if he is man enough. Not just trying to play with our minds here."
Okumu Anzetse on his/her part said: "Sometimes you sound sense when not drunk, congratulations for shouting sense."

However, some of his Facebook followers were in agreement with him.
