And in a bid to ensure the inaugural event goes on smoothly, security team in the county has affirmed its commitment to ensuring everything is in order, security wise.

According to the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan, they have enhanced police patrol across Eldoret town and nearby areas so as to guarantee the security of the 67 Senators and other Senate staff who will be in Eldoret town.

Addressing the press in Eldoret town on Monday as the inaugural ‘Senate Mashinani’ kicked off, Hassan further said enhanced security has been assigned to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly where the Senators will be holding their normal business.

“We have put in place sufficient measures to ensure we have adequate security for our visitors, now that the whole Senate is in our town,” said Hassan.

“More police patrols in Eldoret town has been initiated and as a security team we’re ready to deal with any individual out to take advantage of this event because we know some people would always want to disrupt the peaceful coexistence of the locals and the visitors,” he added.

The Senate will be holding its sittings in Eldoret town this week, in a new initiative that seeks to enable Senators to feel the impact of devolution at the grassroots.
