To live a fulfilling life, you need to focus on who you are and work towards achieving your goals. Nothing else should matter, even if they will do matter, it should not be that much. It may seem like a defiant approach to life but it is important and essential to keep you going.
As a normal person with a clear brain, you need to understand the script of your life. You need to know how and why some things should be done at designated times of the week or month. If you miss out on that and has no clear overview of how you should live your life, you could be sabotaging your own life.
Here is how you could be sabotaging your life, subconsciously.
1. Comparing yourself to others
Much as it is okay to have the role models or people you look up to in your life, being obsessed by them and wanting to be exactly like them is a bad idea. You do not know what fate has in store for you or what will probably happen in the future. You are not a seer or some prophet to correctly predict how life turns out in the future; but, you can think about it with what you know and what you have. Everyone is unique in their own capacities. The script of their life may be way different from what you have. They may seem to be enjoying and having a superb life, but, you’re not in their heads to see what they go through. Besides, they may be on a completely different chapter of life that you have no idea of. So, stop comparing yourself to anyone.
2. Giving people chances when they didn’t deserve them
How you think directly affects how you make your decisions. If you can reason soundly, you will obviously make the best decisions. When it comes to matters love, you really need to be extra careful. Otherwise, you will waste a lot of time and realize later on that you have been doing circles and coming back at the same spot over and over again. If you have a feeling someone does not deserve a chance to be in your life, don’t let them waste your time. You may be afraid of hurting them because you have probably been friends but that is no excuse to let anyone waste your time. Your life is your journey in which no one is supposed to take the wheel for you.
3. Listening to advice you don’t really need
Do not be a clown just because you have to be who someone wants you to be. There may be so many ‘advisers’ in your life. Select only the ones you can listen to and let others off. Life is too precious to waste it trying to please people. Not everyone deserves your attention. If your friends ‘advise’ you to drink so as to beat stress, you do not really need that kind of advice, do you?
4. Not understanding the value of money
If you cannot manage your finances, it is very likely that the quest to manage your life will also be a failure. You need to understand that the cost of living is going up every day and hence the need to know how to use your money. Money can be long-lasting, and perishable, all in equal proportions.
5. Never admitting when you’re wrong
The first step to doing what is right after a mistake is admitting to being in the wrong. You have to learn to accept that you are wrong. Your life becomes a lot easier when you accept to correct your mistakes by first acknowledging that you are, somehow, in the wrong.
