Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has described former United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Koffi Annan's death as a blow to the quest for peace in African countries prone to violence.
Kalonzo said Annan was playing a key role in mediating for peace in several war-torn countries in Africa.
The former Vice President said Annan had a heart for peace hence his death a big blow.
Kalonzo said Annan's intervention into 2008's post-election violence saved Kenya from burning.
The former Vice President said Kenya would be history now, were it not for the former UN boss.
"We owe the peace we are enjoying to Koffi Annan and other African leaders who came to our rescue at the point and hour of need," Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo addressed the press in Nairobi on Sunday.
He pleaded with Kenyans to keep peace in respect and honor of Annan.
"The only way we can show that we appreciate the late Annan's mediation role is by keeping our unity," Kalonzo added.
Annan played a key role when he mediated between former President Mwai Kibaki and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga after the disputed 2007's general election.
The mediation saw the signing of the National Accord that led to the formation of the coalition government in 2008.
Annan died on Saturday after short illness and leaders across the world continue to send in their tributes.
