The DPP through State Counsel Duncan Ondimu wants the five (Rashid Charles Mberesero a Tanzanian, Mohamed Ali, Hassan Aden, Hassan Sahal Diriye and Osman Abdi) sentenced to death, noting that his office has proved a prima facie case against the suspects.

The DPP told Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi that evidence submitted  in court against the five suspects is too strong to warrant a death sentence for each accused person.

The DPP in his final submissions asked the court to place the five terror suspects on their defense.

"There is no doubt that a terrorist act was committed on April 2, 2015 at Garissa University College and the perpetrators who are charged in this court must be punished severely for their acts," the DPP told the court on Friday last week.

The DPP told trial Magistrate that the deceased in the deadly terror attack died gruesome deaths and that the court should take judicial notice of Al-Shabaab activities.

One hundred and Forty Seven (147) students were killed  and others injured at the Garissa university college when suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists stormed the institution on April 2, 2015.

The terror attack was strongly condemned by leaders across the world.

The trial court will sentence the five suspects on December 19.
