Many schools based in the wider Mt Kenya region have posted relatively good results compared to other years following the announcement of the 2018 KCSE results by Education CS Amina Mohamed on Friday.
As noted by Mohamed during the release of the results, top national and extra county schools in Mt Kenya region produced impressive results.
Little-known Mioro Secondary School in Mathioya, Murang’a County, surprised many by producing the most improved student nationally.
Josephat Mwangi who scored an A- of 77 points was cited by the CS as the most improved candidate having joined the school with 278 marks four years ago.
A number of schools from the region also had a sizeable number of students in the top 100 candidates nationally. They include Alliance High which had 15 students, Alliance girls which had five while Mang'u High had two.
Others which also had a varied number of students making it to the top 100 include Loreto High School Limuru, Mary Hill, Murang’a High and St Anne’s Secondary School-Lioki.
Mt Kenya schools also had the best performers in the A- category with schools like Kisima Academy, Kiambu High School, Mugoiri Girls, Mahiga Girls, Thika High School, St Francis Mangu, Kagumo High among others contributing to this category.
