A case against a Nakuru based businesswoman charged with defrauding a construction company materials worth Sh2 million has been adjourned.

Chief magistrate Josephat Kalo adjourned the matter to February 27 as the prosecutor was indisposed and unable to continue with the matter.

"The matter is hereby adjourned to February 27, the prosecutor is indisposed and will be unable to proceed with the case," Ruled Kalo.

The prosecution side had lined up its last witness in the matter before closing their case.

The accused, Sarah Kabura, who appeared before chief magistrate Josephat Kalo had been charged with defrauding a construction company contrary to the law.

Particulars were that on diverse dates between October 12 and December 14, 2016, at Asphalt mixing plant in Nakuru, she willfully and unlawfully issued three cheques worth Sh2 million knowing that the bank account had insufficient funds.

During the last hearing, the court heard that the accused presented three bad cheques to Asphalt company but later directed her bank not to honor the cheques she had presented.

According to police, the accused who was arrested on April 16, 2017, has been under investigations for similar offenses for a long time with a series of complaints launched against her.

The matter will proceed for hearing on February 27.
