The government through the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi has made it clear that it will not relent until the required standards of vehicles, motor vehicles and their operators are met.

This has led to the increase of transportation costs as Matatu operators whose vehicles are up to the standards charge the commuters high above the normal price.

For example, one would be charged Sh450 from Eldoret town to Moi University main campus in Kesses which is more than double the normal price.

Reacting to this situation, former Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant and businessman Zedekiah Buzeki took to his official Twitter account to express his disappointment in the manner in which the transport sector is being handled.

The billionaire business mogul in his tweet suggested that the government should employ graduate traffic officers.

"If the police cannot enforce the traffic regulations consistently, then we will have to periodically rely on the MMBcode, Michuki, Matiangi, Buzeki etc, this is not sustainable, employ graduates traffic officers with proper pay and save the lives of Kenyans!" reads part of Buzeki's tweet.

Replying to the tweet, several of the Twitter users attacked the businessman turned politician while also expressing different opinions on involving graduates in the traffic sector.

Sheila Mugo said; ”So how will a graduate save the lives of Kenyans”?.

Bernadette Muyomi; ”Graduating from a university is nothing close to a guarantee of a corruption-free Kenya and police service. Some of the people responsible for the ugliest scandals in our nation are masters and PhD holders.”

Ken Mbayi; ”You get it all wrong bwana Tai ole Tai, you are a transporter and advice them well. Those fines are favouring the police...everyone pays the police and not GOK. waambie wabadilishe sheria.”

Mathias Nabutola; "You began well but ended wrongly with the graduate thing.”
