The fact that Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is serving his second and final term in office has seen several leaders declaring their bids for the same position in 2022 polls.

The following politicians have declared their interests for the gubernatorial seat in the next general elections.

1. Wavinya Ndeti

Wavinya Ndeti put it clear in one of the occasions that if her appeal flops and she loses the chance to rule Machakos, she wouldn't give up but wait until 2022.

Anxiously waiting for the Supreme Court's ruling on Governor Mutua's appeal, Ndeti has hopes that the Court of Appeal's ruling will be upheld and her victory will come sooner.

2. Robert Mbui

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has always said 2022 gubernatorial race will be a battle between allies, only the strongest to survive.

Residents and leaders pushed him to vie for the seat in the last election against Mutua but he said it was not yet time.

3. Vincent Musau

The Mwala MP has revealed he will too go for the top seat in the county. He says his track record will earn him the seat.

4. Francis Maliti

The Machakos deputy governor, in an interview with the press said he's best suited to succeed his master and with that he has devoted himself to creating a name for himself.

"I'm in the best position to succeed the governor,I tell you this seat is mine in2022," Maliti had said.

5. Patrick Makau

Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has been heard saying Machakos needs a change in leadership.

He says he's going to lead the county to the right direction and redeem it from the rot it is in.

6. Bernard Kiala

Former Machakos deputy governor hasn't given up despite backing out the last minute in the last elections.

It's a sure thing the list will increase once we get closer to the elections since some people are still pondering over the idea.
